Marmora's Warbler

Overview:
These are small, long tailed,, overall very similar to their close relatives, the Dartford Warbler. Marmora's Warblers are grey above and below, lacking the brick-red underparts of the Dartford Warbler. These small passerine birds are found in open country with thorny bushes and heather. This bird is named after the Italian naturalist Alberto della Marmora. Marmora's Warbler, Sylvia sarda, is a typical warbler, genus Sylvia. It breeds on Mediterranean islands, typically including Corsica and Sardinia. They are generally resident but some birds migrate south to winter in north Africa.

Status:
Very Rare bird, latest record of a single bird on Comino, first seen on the 27th of October 2010 and was last seen on the 30th October 2010.
