Overview:
This active, restless and not shy warbler is probabbly the next most abundant species after the Spanish Sparrow. Like most Sylvia species, it has distinct male and female plumages. The adult male has a grey back, whitish underparts, black head, white throat and red eyes. The female is mainly brown above and buff below, with a grey head. The Sardinian Warbler's song is fast and rattling, and is very characteristic of the Mediterranean areas.It breeds and spends most of its time in tall bushes and open woodland with dense tickets. In Malta it is also found in home-gardens in the middle of urban areas and also in public gardens.
Status and Distribution:
This species is common in Malta, probably breeding in every area with suitable habitat in Malta, Gozo and Comino.

As already mentioned above, Sardinian Warbler is easily seen in every place where trees and bushes reside, even in gardens.
