Overview:
The wren is a tiny brown bird, although it is heavier, less slim, than the even smaller goldcrest. It is dumpy, almost rounded, with a fine bill, quite long legs and toes, very short round wings and a short, narrow tail which is sometimes cocked up vertically. For such a small bird it has a remarkably loud voice.

Status:
Rare. Occurs from time to time in winter. Seemed to be commoner in the past with records almost each year since the mid 1990's. Latest record was in October 2007 from Comino.

When to See:
Most Records are in December and January. Some records in October and November.

Where to See:
Prefers woodland and thick valleys. Best place for this species seems to be Buskett and Wied il-Luq Valley.
