Overview:
This is a warbler similar in size and shape to a Chiffchaff. The adult has an unstreaked brown back and buff underparts. It has a prominent whitish supercilium, and is bill is fine and pointed.
It is insectivorous, but will take other small food items including berries. The call, a harsh "check" is often the first clue that this typically skulking species is present.
Status:
Vagrant. Recorded 6 times as follows: 1 on the 20th October 1994 at Ghadira Nature Reserve, 1 on the 2nd November 1997 at Simar Nature Reserve, 1 present from January till May 2000 at Ghadira Nature Reserve, 1 present from 6th January till 6th April 2004 at Simar Nature Reserve, 1 present from 31st October till 19th November 2008 at Ghadira Nature Reserve and 1 on 1st November 2009 at Rabat.
When to See:
Mostly recorded in Winter and early spring Months.
